Eco-tourism has become big business in recent years. As one of the cleanest, most environmentally friendly and healthiest form of travel, cycling in particular has a wide-ranging appeal - for leisure, adventure and exploration.
The benefits are substantial:
With no emissions and a minimal carbon
footprint a cycling holiday is a much more ecological option than a long-haul
flight abroad or petrol-powered road trip or tour (unless you have to fly to
get to the destination of course! But once you get there, hiring a bike rather
than a car is a better choice ).
By using a bike to get around you are able
to see more and get closer to some of the most beautiful wildlife and scenery
in the world, not bogged down by traffic and slow public transport as you would
be by other forms of travel.
Cycling excursions can be an exhilarating
experience and is something different compared to sunbathing at a resort for
the whole holiday. Not only does it give you the freedom to explore a trail
yourself, it’s also a fantastic form of exercise which everyone can take part
in.
There are plenty of cycling destinations to
choose from including France, Spain, Burma, Morocco, Italy, Iceland, Poland,
South Africa, Sri Lanka and many more – the list is endless!
There are a few things to prepare for like packing
your cycling clothing, finding out where
you can hire a bike or if you wanted to take your own, making sure your travel
insurance covers your trip but the unforgettable experience it will be worth
it!
Let us know if you’ve discovered a
destination on a saddle before.
