The Swallow-tailed Bee-eater is small bee eating bird with a swallow tail. It has a blue collar and yellow throat. Can be found at various tree habitats and the Kalahari sand areas. Becomes 20-22cm.

Acacia Pied Barbet
The Acacia Pied Barbet is a smallish bird of 17-18cm. It has a red forehead and a white underside. It's head is black-and-white striped and yellow colouring above the eyes. Can be found one-one or in pairs in semi arid savannah. Similar in manner to a woodpecker, the Acacia Pied Barbet drills holes into dead wood in order to create cavity nests. (Bonthoutkapper - Tricolaema leucomelas)

Snowy Egret
The Snowy Egret is a medium sized bird of 55-65cm. It is difficult to identify them exactly as there are other egret species that look very similar. The area of the upper bill, in front of it's eyes is yellow. They eat insects, fish, crustaceans and small reptiles. (Sneeuwitreier - Egretta thula)

The Crimson-breasted Shrike has a red underside and neck. It's very rare but some have a yellow underside. They can be found in pairs in a thorn veld. A smallish bird which becomes 22-23cm. (Rooiborslaksman - Laniarius atrococcineus)

Bat-eared Fox
The Bat-eared fox has large ears and silver grey fur. It's mostly a meat eater and will eat insects, reptiles and small fruit. It weighs about 3-5kg. Their habitat is short shrubs and open grass fields. Will not be found in mountains and forests. (Bakoorjakkals - Otocyon - megalotis)

The Chestnut-vented Warbler can easily be distinguished by it's light eyes and striped throat feathers. It has a brown underside. It's a small insect eating bird of about 15cm. It can copy the sounds of other birds. They can be found in tree fields, bush veld and thorn trees. (Bosveldtjeriktik - Sylvia subcaerulea)

Secretarybird

Secretarybird
The Secretarybird is a large, grey and black bird with long legs and loose black feathers at the back of it's head. An adult's face is orange and a young one yellow. Can usually be found in pairs in grass fields, bush veld or thorn veld. They spend most of their time on the ground, but will sleep in thorn trees and nest there. Become 125-150cm. (Sekretarisvoƫl - Sagittarius serpentarius)
